What we do with your details
Short version: we collect almost nothing, we never sell anything, and we ask you first before your question goes anywhere else.
If you write to us
The question form asks for a name, an email address and your question. We use them to answer you and to keep track of what people ask, because the questions tell us which pages are missing. We do not add you to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.
If your question turns out to be a booking
Sometimes the honest answer to a question is that you need someone to arrange a trip, or that a camp handles its own reservations. When that happens we tell you who we would send it to and we ask whether you want us to. Nothing is forwarded until you say yes.
If you do say yes and it becomes a booking, we are paid a commission by the operator or the camp. That is on the record here and in the line at the bottom of every page. It does not change the order of a list or a single figure on this site.
Accommodation run by the park authority itself, or by a concessionaire acting for it, is different. Those bookings go straight to them. We take nothing and we forward nothing.
What the site itself records
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It tells us that a page was opened, roughly where from, and on what kind of device. It does not tell us who you are. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not build profiles.
Some links to booking sites carry a tag so the other side knows the visit came from us. That is how the commission is counted. The tag identifies this website, not you.
How long we keep things
Questions and our replies stay in the mailbox so we can pick up where we left off if you write again. Ask us to delete yours and we will, and we will confirm when it is done.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@visitnyerere.com and a person will handle it. If you are in the European Union and you think we have it wrong, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
